4 reasons why we twist

At the end of our practice

It is important to have a twist of some sort at the ending of your practice before Shavasana to release any toxins left by squeezing your body like a rope. To neutralise your body through lengthening and also aids digestion.

4 reasons why we twist:

Digestion: when you twist you are compressing your digestive organs and placing pressure which is then released which improves the function of our digestion organs. Lying in the twist also allows our rest and digest to kick in where our enzymes are secreting for a healthier digestive system

Cleansing: when you twist you cut off blood circulation to your digestive organs, and then re-introduce the fresh blood to your abdominal organs when you release your twist giving this fresh blood supply and release of excess waste and toxins

Healthy spine: the spinal rotation keeps the vertebrae mobile and can release any tension built up, it is a way to ring out our bodies of these toxins that build up in our body and specifically around the spine. A healthy spine isa healthy body. Releasing any additional dumping and stress into our lower backs.

Relax: working with our rest and digest, activating our parasympathetic nervous system for healing, rejuvenation and restoration to take place in the body
